I recently started noticing what appeared to be some kind of acne on my buttocks. It is the only place I have it, and it looks like this with maybe one or 2 white heads (gross, I know, and it is a photo from google images, not my own buttocks). When an article mentioned a type of folliculitis caused by herpes, of course, I started freaking out. Does it look like folliculitis caused by the herpes virus? ( I have no itching, burning, or any other symptoms. The bumps on my buttocks do not itch or burn, and besides the bumps on buttocks, I have no problems with anything.) Its not herpes...herpes would be on your genitals...you can get acne all over your body...esp in the summer time when you sweat a lot.

I highly doubt it. Herpes usually presents on mucus membranes (not buttocks) as a blister like lesion that ulcerates. there is uaully pain, burning, sometimes even a fever with a new outbreak. Eczema herpeticum is found in immunocompromised people, not healthy and is more than two white heads.
