The acne-like rash is confined mostly to my calf area. I have heard of the common reason for this being ingrown hair, however, I have cut back on shaving to about 3 days a week so the hair would have time to straighten out and it would not become ingrown, prior to shaving I exfoliate my legs and wash my legs and razor with scent free soap. All of my cleansers, soaps, shaving cream are scent free and dye free. I have had this rash for a while now and nothing seems to help. I have used Hydrocortisone-10 and a generic rash soothing cream for drying up poison ivy, poison oak, etc. The rash looks like small zits, sometimes they are inflamed and filled with puss and other times they are just red and raised. It doesn't itch therefor I don't scratch it to iritate it or spread it. I am desperate for an answer because I can't find help anywhere else.Acne Like Rash On Legs, Best answer:

I get something kind of like this, its basically when the hair follicles get clogged with the skins natural oils, like when you get clogged pores on your face? Some people are just more prone to this, the 'condition' is called keratosis pilaris. If you think it might be that [check google images for pics], you probably need a really moisturizing lotion. Eucerin Intensive Plus lotion or cream is very good for that, it has AHA plus some super moisturizing ingredient I can't remember. It could also be plain old ingrown hairs. In that case, you might want to actually stop shaving completely for a while, exfoliate a lot [gently] and let all the irritation go away. When you do start again, make sure you use a new razor, dull blades will irritate the skin even more. Also a lotion with AHA or another exfoliating ingredient might help to keep them from coming back. Whatever it is I don't think the rash cream will work except to dry it up a bit, those are more for allergic type reactions not something like this. When you get the inflamed type bumps maybe try a little neosporin to kill the infection though.
